February is a great month for fans of AV and Hifi, as the UKs biggest AV and Hifi event takes place at the Bristol Show at the Marriott hotel.


The Bristol Sound and Vision show is the one place to be to see the latest models from the key players in AV and Hifi. At the Bristol show this February there will be over 200 big name brands, some of them include Sennheiser, Sony, Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo, Spectral, Grado and Nordost. A fantastic thing about the Bristol show they have a great selection of AV and Hifi products, from CD players, tuners amplifiers and cables, to LCD, LED and plasma televisions and TV stands and cabinets.

A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to travel down from Bolton to visit the biggest Sound and Vision show in the UK for myself.

After the 3 hour train journey from Bolton I arrived in Bristol, the Marriott hotel was only a stones through away. Once we arrived the at the Marriott we paid our £8 entrance fee picked up a floor plan and went off to explore what was on show.

Near the entrance were some great accessories companies showcasing the latest advances in cables including in HDMI, and some stylish and unique furniture manufactures. Spectral the German furniture manufacturer was there with a selection of their premium stands, and Atacama with their sleek stylish and performance enhancing racks.

In the large conference rooms and lounges big AV and Hifi brands were showcasing their latest creations. These brands included Yamaha, KEF, Mission, Sony and JVC, with their large products out on demonstration.

In the Wharfedale and Mission room, Mission where demonstration their 79 Series and MV series, all though they looked the part I was slightly disappointed with their quality of Sound, the new Diamond 10 speakers are suppose to be far superior. Upstairs in the bedrooms of the Bristol Marriott the rooms had been transformed into intimate demonstration rooms by each brand, allowing the visitors and show goers an up close and personal experience of their equipment.

At the Bristol Sound and Vision show, you can sometimes buy the latest AV and Hifi equipment from the manufactures directly, who sometimes have offers on. Walking round the show I did come across some great bits of kit that I was interested in, there was a lot of products there that I would have to re-mortgage my house for. . I took down a few products codes and prices, and then called my local AV and Hifi dealer, Sound and Vision Bolton to see if they could match or better the price.

I was really impressed when Sound and Vision could better the prices of the equipment I had seen at show and give me free delivery, making the train journey home that much easier. The Bristol show was great, and it was even better because I left the show confident that I had bought the right products from Sound and vision in Bolton.

This year the Bristol show is expected to be even bigger, seeing the launch of some really amazing products, I would recommend however, you take the Sound and Vision number and see if they are cheaper.
